A unit's own code recognised at the scan
The customer asks: Scan a unit's own barcode or a handset's tag, and refuse a unit already sold
- Verdict: Ready, with limits (3)
- Door: Scan source · area: Stock and buying › Handheld and scanning
- Recipe: Unit codes at the scan (a scan source)
- Sample: S19 — Unit codes at the scan (a scan source)
- Checked: carried 2026-10-16 · not re-run
What you build
The shop declares a table of its units' own codes; the till's scan finds the unit, its batch and serial, and refuses one already sold. It is data: no code runs.
Limits
- A unit sold on another till a moment before: not run in the kit (the product's own tests cover it).
- When the code must be checked on Desk documents too (receipts, transfers, counts), make it a serial number instead: the card units-as-serial-numbers, sample S30. This card's scan source stays for codes a shop keeps in its own table.
- POS LANE X row X57, P-SERIALUNITS (one row per serial with its own batch at the till) makes a batch-and-serial unit reliable at the till; until it merges, a unit sells reliably only from the lot iVendNext picks first.
Tell the customer
Scanning a unit's own code finds that exact unit, and a unit already sold is refused.
What next
- Tell the customer the 3 limits above, and write them into the proposal.
- Follow the recipe: Unit codes at the scan (a scan source).
- Copy the sample: S19 — Unit codes at the scan (a scan source), and change it.
- Build and test it on your sandbox (request one if you have none; what is on it).
- Run the checks: your own tests, the kit's checks and the money kit's release gate (testing and release).
- Release through the customer's own release gate (14. Testing and release); an app other shops install goes through the App library.
