A new customer's phone or e-mail made required
The customer asks: Every new customer must give a phone number or an e-mail
- Verdict: Ready, with limits (2)
- Door: Field rules · area: Customers and loyalty › New and existing customers
- Recipe: The shop's own fields on the till (field rules)
- Sample: S21 — Field rules for one till theme
- Checked: carried 2026-10-15 · not re-run
What you build
A field rule, set in POS Studio's Fields tab or declared in a manifest, requires the field when the till makes a customer; the server holds it where it writes.
Limits
- Required only when the till itself makes the customer: one made in Desk, by an import, through the record API or by another app is not checked.
- Offline, a customer added without the field is still made when the sale drains, and the Sales to review report lists it.
Tell the customer
The till asks every new customer it makes for the phone or e-mail; customers made elsewhere are not checked.
What next
- Tell the customer the 2 limits above, and write them into the proposal.
- Follow the recipe: The shop's own fields on the till (field rules).
- Copy the sample: S21 — Field rules for one till theme, and change it.
- Build and test it on your sandbox (request one if you have none; what is on it).
- Run the checks: your own tests, the kit's checks and the money kit's release gate (testing and release).
- Release through the customer's own release gate (14. Testing and release); an app other shops install goes through the App library.
