A lucky draw for a campaign
The customer asks: One entry for every 200 spent during the campaign, then a fair draw of the winners
- Verdict: Ready, with limits (8)
- Door: Desk action · area: Customers and loyalty › Loyalty, gift cards and wallets
- Recipe: Lucky draw: entries by spend, and a fair draw of the winners
- Sample: S44 — Lucky draw (pp_ldw): entries by spend, and a fair draw of the winners
- Checked: run on our test bench 2026-10-23 · the shop's own till sales and a return counted, drawn once, the draw refused before the last day and not repeated, walked in a browser as the campaign's manager
What you build
A campaign record and two buttons on it: Count entries and Draw winners. Your service reads the campaign's till sales, counts each sale's entries net of its returns, draws the winners and reserves, and writes the results on the campaign.
Limits
- Till sales only: a Desk sale or a web order does not count.
- A sale counts only when the cashier has added the customer; a sale on a till's walk-in customer is never an entry.
- Draw once every till has sent its sales: a sale that arrives after the draw is not in it.
- One press reads the whole campaign: if a campaign is too large for one press, the press writes nothing; split it by till.
- A credit note made in Desk after the day closed takes no entries off; the till's own returns do.
- The app never draws a campaign twice, but someone with write on campaigns can still remove a result row or change a drawn one; its history shows it.
- A draw may need a permit where you sell, and some countries require a free way to enter: both are the shop's.
- The customer's own entries are not shown at the till or on the receipt.
Tell the customer
Every 200 you spend during the campaign is one entry; after the last day the winners are drawn, each entry with the same chance, and each winner wins once.
What next
- Tell the customer the 8 limits above, and write them into the proposal.
- Follow the recipe: Lucky draw: entries by spend, and a fair draw of the winners.
- Copy the sample: S44 — Lucky draw (pp_ldw): entries by spend, and a fair draw of the winners, and change it.
- Build and test it on your sandbox (request one if you have none; what is on it).
- Run the checks: your own tests, the kit's checks and the money kit's release gate (testing and release).
- Release through the customer's own release gate (14. Testing and release); an app other shops install goes through the App library.
